The system known as ‘Krav Maga’ was developed by IMI LICHTENFELD. He wished
to create a form of personnal protection which would be easy to learn and very effective. After WWII Imi moved to Isreal from
his Native Slovakia where he was made responsible for Physical Training in the Isreali Defence Forces. Here he used his experience
as a Champion Boxer and Wrestler, (and street fighting experience from real life confrontations with the Nazis) to develop
Krav Maga. Krav Maga was at this stage solely used by the Isreali Military, (special forces and regular forces). When Imi
finished his duties with the IDF he continued his work on the system and developed it further for Civilian use. At this time
the IKMF was founded by Imi and the system spread to Law enforcement agencies, Military units and Civilians throughout the
world. Sadly Imi Lichtenfeld died in 1998, his work however continues through the IKMF, headed by Eyal Yanilov, (his no.1
student) and spread by the Global Instruction Team. KMSW is proud to be associated with the IKMF and has access to the latest
teachings from the GIT and Mr Yanilov. KMSW sessions in Devon and Cornall are based on the original principles from Imi and
further developments by the IKMF.
